KVNE Takes Road Trip to Holidays for Heroes

MOUNT PLEASANT, TX Dec. 9, 2014 - M.O.M. Ministering Our Military was thrilled to welcome KVNE's Fletcher Johnson as he brought the KVNE Road Trip to Christmas on the Square oN Sat., Dec. 6 to help promote the Holidays for Heroes Packing Station. Johnson promoted the Mount Pleasant annual Christmas festival with a special focus on the M.O.M. group and its mission to send care packages to military troops.

He invited listeners to drop off donations to the station's booth for the troop packing station set up on the downtown square. He also encouraged visitors to the event with station giveaways and free "blessing" cards and bracelets. The cards, which have inspirational sayings, scripture verses and appropriate reminders such as, "Call your Mother," were tucked inside the military care packages with the goodies for the troops.

Before the broadcast ended, Johnson took the opportunity to go through the assembly line in the M.O.M. tent to pack a box and write a personal note on a M.O.M. Christmas card for a military member.

"We are so grateful for the support from KVNE to help us get the word out about this awesome ministry effort," said M.O.M. Co-founder Kellye Cooper. "Having Fletcher and the KVNE van here broadcasting during the event made a huge difference."

The group is also thankful for the monetary donations and contributions of items from the community that enabled them to pack more than double the 86 boxes that were packed and shipped last year. This year, the group estimates it will send at least 160 boxes. The official tally is still being counted.

If someone would like to add a name to the list of military members receiving a care package, pack a box to send, or make a contribution toward postage, please contact the group as soon as possible. The packages need to be sent by Dec. 17 to arrive in time for Christmas.
